How To Sync iPhone Automatically

One of the most popular reasons to disable the iTunes auto-sync feature is that any songs that have been invisibly deleted from your main iTunes library will not disappear from your iPhone.

Getting your iTunes purchases (music, videos, apps, etc.) back from iCloud can be easy, but all those things that did n’t come from the iTunes Store ? If you have a backup ( iTunes Mill or an external hard drive ), if you accidentally deleted it, it has been deleted from your iPhone.

This is because syncing songs and other files via iTunes is a one-way process. This means that when you delete content in your iTunes library, this change mirrors your iPhone – sometimes non-iTunes source content crashes.

Disable automatic syncing in iTunes

It only takes a few minutes at most to turn off the auto-sync feature of iTunes.

Important: Before you continue, make sure your iPhone is disconnected from the computer to avoid auto-syncing.

  1. When you open iTunes, go to the Edit menu (Windows) or iTunes menu (MacOS), and then select Preferences from the list
  2. Go to the Devices tab.
  3. Put a check in the box next to Prevent iPod, iPhone and iPad from syncing automatically
  4. Click OK to save and exit .

ITunes should only synchronize files on your iPhone when you click the sync button. However, it is a good idea to exit iTunes before connecting the iPhone to your computer and then restart it. This will ensure that the settings you changed are reloaded and working actively.

One final note about disabling automatic syncing between iTunes and your Apple device is that automatic backups will no longer take place. As part of the iTunes syncing process, you need to back up important data on your iPhone, so you have to do this manually after disabling this option.

Manage iTunes Media manually

Now that you have disabled automatic syncing between iTunes and your iPhone, there is another option that you can use to switch to iTunes in manual mode. This way, you can choose what music and videos your iPhone should sync

  1. Open iTunes and connect the iPhone with USB. After a few moments, your device should be recognized in iTunes
  2. Select the iPhone on the left side of iTunes under Devices , for a brief screen view that shows detailed information like backup settings and options. If you do not see this screen, select the small phone icon at the top of iTunes, at the bottom right of the menu.
  3. Scroll down the short screen until you see the Options section . Click the check box next to Manual Management Music and Video to enable it .
  4. Apply this button to save settings and switch to this manual mode.

Instead of automatically syncing all songs and videos to the iPhone, you’ll now have ultimate control over which songs and videos end up on your device. Here you want to manually remove the songs on your iPhone:

  1. Select the library at the top of iTunes
  2. Drop and drop songs on the main screen to the right of your iPhone icon on the left.

You can select multiple songs or videos on a PC with the Ctrl key or the Mac with the command key. Whenever you want to brighten up at once, then do it and then drag one by one on the selected items on the iPhone.
